Differences in Selection of Air Conditioner Refrigerant Oil for Different Machine Models

Air conditioners of different models require distinct specifications of refrigeration oil, mainly determined by compressor structure and refrigerant type. Residential scroll compressors for split AC use R410A or R32 refrigerant and require POE synthetic oil, mostly ISO VG68 or VG100. Mineral oil is incompatible and forbidden here. Older R22 reciprocating fixed-speed compressors adopt mineral oil or alkylbenzene oil at VG100/VG150. Mixing mineral oil with POE causes oil emulsification and pipeline blockage. Commercial screw chillers with R134a commonly use POE or PVE oil ranging from VG68 to VG100. Low-temperature heat pump units adopt higher-viscosity oil VG100~VG150 for stable lubricating film under extreme temperature changes. Always follow the compressor nameplate for oil selection. Wrong oil grade or type leads to higher power consumption, poor cooling performance or permanent compressor burnout.
